I am at the interactive media conference in Las Vegas where they just announced of the winners of the Knight News Challenge. 3000 people applied and 16 were chosen as winners. The winners included me. I was chosen as a winner for my project with a vision for improving reporting for the deaf community. The Knight Foundation has given me funds to support me explaining and improving my vision. This gives the deaf community the opportunity to analyze and improve how reporting happens in order to share information with each other. I will shortly share with you a more in depth explanation of my ideas. I will also try to analyze how to improve the sharing of our information and our news. The Knight Foundation believes that it is important to connect a community with journalism. There are many different ways to do that. The other 15 winners have a variety of ideas on how to apply the use of technology to news with a variety of communities. Many of these ideas can be taken and applied to the deaf community. I will periodically explain these different ideas. I would love for you to share with me your own ideas, thoughts, comments and suggestions on how to improve my vision of the use of technology to share news within the deaf community.
