Access News, the Sign Language Civic News show broadcast from Austin, Texas, will be premiering its Season two show this Sunday, September 23rd with special guest Congressional Representative Lloyd Doggett from the Texas 25th District.
Access News will be airing on KLRU-PBS Sundays at 1pm, and will be later shown on the Access News Website.

It never fails. “Who’s the new teacher?” is a main topic among parents, teachers, staff and students every spring and summer. With new teachers being hired every year, it’s understandably a topic of interest for stakeholders.
NAD has announced a Landmark Precedent in ADA Law stemming from the NAD vs Netflix Lawsuit.
Netflix attempted to have the lawsuit dismissed before the trial started, claiming that the ADA only applied to physical places, and not internet-only businesses. This motion was denied.
This ruling means the lawsuit against Netflix due to the lack of captioning for their online video services will proceed.

Captioned Video provided by U.S. Senator Tom Harkin during his questioning of Defense Secretary Panetta about what is being done to allow disabled people to serve in the military, and explictly mentions a Deaf man who wishes to serve.
Secretary Panetta responsed that he promised to get something done, and would explore a pilot program.
I'm not going to wait for the Deaf community to act on our needs any more.
The lessons to organize action and change are out there. The tools are out there. We just have to use them.
