About
Signcasts is a non-profit news organization dedicated towards building the Deaf and Signing community by informing and engaging its citizens.
We use both Civic and Participatory (or Citizen) journalism. We are civic journalism since Signcasts works in interest of the community. We are dedicated towards using the news to strengthen the social bonds within the community, and foster community engagement, organizing and development. Signcasts is also participatory or 'citizen' journalism since we are dedicated towards including all members of the Deaf and Signing community in the production of the news.
Signcasts was founded and is run by Brein Mcnamara. View my explanation of the project for the 2008 Knight News Challenge
